Action Teams and Workgroups

Our work is guided by the Seven Strategies for Effective Community Change. These seven strategies are supported by the whole coalition. However, the workgroups and Action Teams play a vital role in completing these strategies.

 

By September 29, 2025, the coalition’s goals are:

  • increase by 5% active participation in coalition activities

  • increase by 10% the number of surveys conducted in the community 

  • increase by 5% brand recognition

  • increase by 5% collaboration with coalition partners and community organizations on events and meetings

Stand UP Cass County is led by action teams and workgroups.

 

They take action on topics important to our county.​

​​

They work together to complete our annual Action Plans.

They decide what should go into the upcoming year's Action Plans.

They identify potential gaps in the community and figure out solutions.

Their participation is extremely valuable to the mission of our coalition. 

Action Plan Workgroup:

Monitors the yearly coalition “action plan”; Assures completion of activities; Identifies and suggests Cass County action items; Delegates tasks for teams and work groups to complete; Help with annual reporting efforts for example the Progress Report and Blue Ribbon Coalition applications yearly.

Recruits and sustains youth involvement in the coalition; Helps to plan events/activities for youth; Engages different youth programs and clubs already in existence; Helps bring to life ideas the youth come up with for their community;  Empowers youth to make decisions; Is supportive.

​Current Projects and Accomplishments:

  • collaborate with youth on messages for youth

  • support our school corporations with resources and participation

  • co-host and participate in substance free alternative events and activities

Identifies and secures training/events in Cass County; Helps with coalition engagement and sector spotlights;  Looks for co-sponsorship opportunities; Identifies needs and addresses them by coordinating training and events for the coalition and the community; Identifies opportunities to co-sponsor, and NOT recreate efforts in the community.

​Current Projects and Accomplishments:

  • collaborate with coalition partners and other community organizations to support local trainings and events

  • provide and record at least 4 training opportunities sponsored by the coalition every year

  • translate resources and campaign/messages in an effort to reach diversified populations

  • publicize the coalition’s Sector Spotlight recognizing a sector representative each month

  • create “Proud to be a Member” signs for organizations/businesses to display

Work together to address alcohol and tobacco prevention efforts for our youth; Identify and implement campaigns/programs; Support and share prevention messages; Address concerns in the community surrounding youth alcohol and tobacco use; Review and assist with policies and procedures, etc.

​Current Projects and Accomplishments:

  • support our state’s Alcohol and Tobacco Commission

  • recognize partner organizations, businesses who promote “tobacco free”, “alcohol free” environments and/or who promote “we card” and other similar messaging

  • work with schools to come up with positive rewards for youth who remain drug free and contribute to community initiatives

  • deliver materials in the community such as “No Tobacco”, “We Card”, “Smoke Free Facility”
